Who we are

This policy covers this website, the free AI check and the AEO Pro subscription.

Free AI check requests

When you ask for a free AI check, we store:

your website address
your email address or mobile number
your consent: the version of the consent text and when you gave it
the referrer and the UTM tags of your visit (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, utm_content, gclid, fbclid) and the page you sent the form from
your country, as reported by our hosting provider
browser info (the first 200 characters of your browser’s user agent)
a hash of your IP address, not the IP address itself

This record is deleted automatically after 12 months. You can ask us to delete it sooner.

To stop abuse, we also keep short-lived counters: a per-hour request count keyed by the IP hash (kept 1 hour) and a duplicate check for the same site and contact (kept 1 day).

Your free AI check result is reached through a private link. We store only a hash of that link’s key, for 30 days.

Our team gets an alert about each new request with the contact partly hidden.

Customers

Account and contact details: your email or mobile number, your site and the plan you chose.
Payment: Paddle collects your payment details. We receive your subscription and payment status from Paddle, never your full card number.
Approvals and settings: what you approved or declined, and your report channel (email or Slack).

Data from your site and Google accounts

Public pages of your site, which we fetch to check and fix them.
Google Search Console: aggregate search performance, such as clicks and impressions. Read-only, through a service account you add as a Restricted user.
GA4: aggregate session counts by traffic source, to see visits from AI assistants. Read-only, through a service account you add as a Viewer.
We do not receive data about individual visitors from Search Console or GA4. We never ask for your passwords.

Edge logs

When your site runs through our edge, we log requests from known bots and AI crawlers only. Each log entry has your hostname, the bot’s name and type, and the page path.

We do not log ordinary visitors or their IP addresses. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes all traffic to run the edge.

AI providers

To measure AI answers, we send questions to Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (ChatGPT), Google (Gemini) and Perplexity. These are public questions that do not name your business, like “best med spa in Austin”. They do not contain personal data.

To draft FAQ answers for your approval, we may send text from your public site to Anthropic.

We use these service providers. They process data for us under their own terms:

Amazon Web Services: website and application hosting, and service data storage
Cloudflare: the website optimization edge and bot logs for connected sites
Paddle: checkout, payments, tax, invoices and refunds (Paddle is the Merchant of Record)
Anthropic, OpenAI, Google and Perplexity: AI answer measurement and FAQ drafts, as described above
Google: Search Console and GA4 data you give us access to
Resend: email delivery
Twilio: text messages, if you gave a mobile number
Slack: reports, if you choose Slack
Slack and Telegram: internal team alerts, with your contact partly hidden

We do not sell personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We may disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect our rights and users.

How we use data

to send your free AI check and follow up about it, as you agreed
to run your subscription: measure, fix, verify and report
to bill you, through Paddle
to prevent abuse and keep the service secure

Any promotional email from us includes our postal address and a way to unsubscribe.

Cookies

This website sets no cookies of its own and runs no ad or analytics trackers. Cloudflare may use strictly necessary cookies for security.

How long we keep data

Free AI check requests: 12 months, then deleted automatically.
Free AI check result links: 30 days.
Customer data: while your subscription is active, then for 90 days, unless the law requires longer.
Paddle keeps payment and tax records under its own policy.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, delete or get a copy of your personal data. Email support@dataknows.ai. We may need to confirm your identity first.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what we collect and why, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell or share it. You can use an authorized agent. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.

People in the EEA and UK (GDPR): we use your data based on your consent (the free AI check), our contract with you (the subscription) and our legitimate interests (security, bot logs). You can also restrict or object to our use, and withdraw consent anytime. You can complain to your local data protection authority.

International transfers

We are based in the Republic of Korea. We and our providers process data there, in the United States and in other countries. We use providers that protect data under their own terms.

Security

We store IP addresses only as hashes, hide contacts in team alerts and keep access keys in secret storage. No system is perfectly secure, and we tell you if a breach affects your data as the law requires.

Children

AEO Pro is for businesses. It is not meant for children, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes to this policy

We post updates here with the effective date. For important changes, we email customers before they apply.
